In general, interior designers recommend choosing a tablecloth that hangs 15 to 30 cm over the edges of the table. This means you should add this extra length on all sides of the table when measuring.
For example, if your table is 200 cm long and 100 cm wide, and you want an overhang of 25 cm, you should choose a tablecloth that is 250 cm (200 cm + 225 cm) long and 150 cm (100 cm + 225 cm) wide. It is also important to keep in mind the shape of your table when choosing a tablecloth. Rectangular or oval tables are best suited for rectangular tablecloths, while square or round tables are best paired with square or round tablecloths.
