start with the basics

A plain white tablecloth and a few tea light holders no longer meet the standards of today's festive table. Nowadays, we carefully decorate the table according to certain themes and even consider the seating arrangement, so that your favorite aunt can sit as close to you as possible.

First, decide on the style or colour scheme in which you will decorate the table. Consider traditional or natural themes, or choose gold, pink tones, or black and white. Start with a beautiful foundation, such as a tablecloth or table runners. Then, cotton or rattan placemats are perfect elements to keep the base as clean as possible during the meal. Choose a matching set of dishes, so you can create a neat and beautiful stack. Use an charger plate, dinner plate, a smaller plate, and a soup bowl. Don't forget to include drinking and wine glasses, along with a matching carafe.

A matching cotton napkin is not only practical, but also highly decorative. You can place the cutlery neatly inside and decorate the whole thing with a napkin ring or a homemade mini bouquet made of dried flowers or Christmas greens. If you don't want to do a lot of laundry afterwards, go for matching paper napkins.

let your creativity run wild!

Now that the main elements have found their place on the table, it's time for decoration. Think beforehand whether there will be a lot of plates and bowls on the table, which may cause your creation to be removed from the table right at the beginning of the feast. In that case, choose a single group of decoration in the center of the table. Start with large and high elements, such as candle holders and vases with extravagant Christmas branches with lights and (artificial) flowers. Group tea light holders on the left and right of this creation for extra atmosphere, and add cloches with matching Christmas trees, nutcrackers, Christmas figurines, and perhaps even Christmas angels.

If you want to go all out, a creation with hanging branches from the ceiling is a beautiful matching option. Carefully place lights on each branch, so that the base is beautifully illuminated. Then, decorate the branches with Christmas balls, ornaments, and decorations that match the table decor theme.

Once everything is ready to your satisfaction, your guests are welcome to join. Enjoy your own Christmas paradise, the company, and the cozy after-dinner conversations.
